Merry Fishmass and Happy New Year!

The weather's been a bit rough so far this winter. El Nino is a bit of a start, then a stop, then some wind, some big waves, and hopefully more rain. Never the less, we made it out on New Years Day for some local fishing action. We had a great group of local boys from Dana Point on board. The water was a bit bumpy and the fish were a bit sleepy. But we managed a few rod benders for the kids. We scratched at some #sandbass and #calicos for the morning.

We finished out the day when the wind picked up, and headed back to the harbor. We had plenty of fish stories and tales. Loads of laughs and big smiles for all.

The seals in the harbor are getting bigger!

Fishing with the Fosters

The Foster kids had a wide open bite of bass, bonito, and a couple cuda's this past weekend. We fished the Pochie spot in just 57 feet of water. Jackson & Kendal, who had never caught fish before, sure did get their share of cranking up lunker bass! We used live anchovy for bait which made the fish go nuts. Mom and dad got in on the action too! Mom's first first was a small Yellowtail, also her first fish to boot.

After our arms got tired of catching, we went whale watching. Unfortunately, the whales were incognito. But we did get to see some perfect blue water, a few flying fish, and a great Catalina view.

I think these kids may be hooked on fishing. Great job Jackson & Kendal. And thank you to Shimano Fishing for the great tackle today and Everingham Bait Bros for the fresh chovy.

Lopez Family

Captain Kevin and his new deckhand.

The Lopez family quickly went from land lubbers to seasoned sailors during our four hour fishing adventure in Dana Point harbor today.  These boys reeled in a haul of nearly 140 fish! We might have just found our new deckhands. Way to go, Lopez family!
